The Gulfstream G550

Compare All Models » Legendary Quality, Flexible Performance

The Gulfstream G550 has earned many admirers, whether by winning the prestigious Robert J. Collier Trophy or by being named by owners as the best-in-value business aircraft. What’s behind the success?

The G550 has the efficiency to fly 6,750 nautical miles/12,501 kilometers nonstop, but also is capable of operating out of short-field, high-altitude airports. Payload is a plus, too. The G550 can transport up to 18 passengers and still has the range to fly nonstop more than 12 hours.

The G550 In Motion

back to top Distance Times Speed Equals Time Saved

Powered by two Rolls-Royce engines that provide the most thrust of any jet in its class, the Gulfstream G550 has a cruise range of 6,750 nautical miles /12,501 kilometers. The G550 flies from Shanghai to Los Angeles or New York to Dubai nonstop at Mach 0.80. London to Tokyo or to Los Angeles is nonstop at Mach 0.85. Fly all those miles without the delay of fueling stops or extra landing fees.

The G550 In Production

back to top Reliable In Hours By The Thousands ― And Counting

More than 450 Gulfstream G550 aircraft are in service, and collectively, have flown more than 1 million hours, a performance that gives the G550 a National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) dispatch reliability rating of 99.9 percent―the equivalent of missing only one trip in five years of service. That’s dependability owners can count on, day in, day out, flight hour after hour.

The G550 Cabin

Wide Angle, Low Altitudes

Start with 14 Gulfstream signature oval windows to infuse the cabin with natural light. Introduce only 100 percent fresh air and combine that with cabin pressurized to a very low altitude. The result is subtle, but effective. Plentiful natural light and fresh air help passengers stay alert and focused. Low-altitude pressurization requires less exertion from the body and ensures passengers arrive at their destinations refreshed and alert.

The G550’s quiet interior also improves the cabin experience. Advanced sound suppression techniques keep engine noise where it belongs―outside the aircraft.

Comfort Configured

Whether it’s a two-hour hop or a 14-hour nonstop flight, the Gulfstream G550 offers 12 select cabin configurations to satisfy a variety of travel needs.

Some layouts accommodate berthing for seven people, and the option of multiple seating areas creates a combination of uses, including a dedicated crew rest area, a private stateroom, conference area and entertainment space. The G550 also provides the option of locating the full-size galley forward or aft―the only aircraft in its class to offer such flexibility. Choices abound too for interior styling. Select from the softest, hand-tailored leathers, thousands of exquisite fabrics and dozens of unique wood finishes offered in Gulfstream’s design studios.

Nonstop Productivity

Using flight hours as productive work time is a key attribute of owning a business jet. In the G550, a fully functional office is always ready.

A wireless network, satellite communication, Iridium phone and a fax/printer are standard equipment. Gulfstream also offers its optional Broadband Multilink with high-speed data connectivity.

The G550 Cockpit

Gulfstream G550

Industry-leading PlaneView™ Cockpit

The Gulfstream G550 cockpit helped launch a safer, more sophisticated avionics platform that, years later, has become standard equipment for most business aircraft. Working with avionics partner Honeywell, Gulfstream in 2003 introduced the PlaneView cockpit, making it the most technologically advanced business jet flight system in existence. Since then, the flight deck has continued to evolve and improve, and by design, easily accepts software upgrades. PlaneView uses four liquid crystal displays to present essential flight data in larger, crisper images that make ever-changing flight conditions easier to analyze.

Air Command

The G550 cockpit is outfitted with a triple-redundant flight management system that allows pilots to have command of enhanced, essential flight data. Using two side-mounted Gulfstream-designed Cursor Control Devices (CCDs), pilots can select and scroll where and how they want to see airways, airports, navigational aids and radar data.

Eyes On The Sky

The innovative Head-Up Display (HUD) projects flight data to a transparent screen in the pilot’s forward field of vision. Aviators know that each turn of the head or every change in the field of vision affects situational awareness. HUD keeps pilots focused on the skies ahead.

When vision is reduced or obscured, the Enhanced Vision System (EVS) leverages infrared imaging technology to display what the human eye cannot see. EVS captures clearer images of runway markings, taxiways and surrounding terrain, then displays those images on flight deck screens or the head-up display.

Synthetic Option

Synthetic Vision-Primary Flight Display, an option in the G550, combines three-dimensional graphics of terrain overlaid with flight data to give pilots improved situational awareness of their surroundings, even in zero-visibility conditions.
