Gulfstream is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, a market leader in business aviation; land and expeditionary combat vehicles and systems, armaments and munitions; shipbuilding and marine systems; and mission-critical information systems and technologies. General Dynamics maintains its headquarters in Falls Church, Va., and employs approximately 92,000 people worldwide.
Gulfstream can draw upon the many resources available through its parent company and the individual operating units that comprise its four business groups: Aerospace, Combat Systems, Marine Systems and Information Systems and Technology. Our combined expertise serves to create a vast database of technical and diverse knowledge. This database supports a wide range of military-focused and aerospace operations.
In 1997, to reach a new and expanding market, General Dynamics began to acquire companies with expertise in information technology products and services, particularly in the areas of command, control, communications, computing, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. In 1999, the company purchased Gulfstream. General Dynamics emphasizes excellence in program management and continual improvement in all of its operations.
The operating units within General Dynamics share the same high standards and ethical practices espoused by the parent company. General Dynamics encourages its business units to collaborate on mutually beneficial projects and to share best practices.
For example, the Government Relations and Communications function at General Dynamics brings together more than a dozen public relations and communications practitioners from business units in North America and the United Kingdom on a conference call every month to review recent activities and pending projects. In addition to sharing information and knowledge, the group interaction fosters a sense of teamwork and inclusion.
