The Environment
We believe that being a good citizen doesn't end with improving the lives of our neighbors. We understand that being a good neighbor entails building a solid foundation for the future. That's why we've made a commitment to preserve the environment for the next generation: at work, in our skies and in our communities.
As a part of that commitment, many of Gulfstream's facilities are ISO 14001-registered and OHSAS 18001-compliant. We have voluntarily implemented a management system that integrates environmental, health and safety considerations into all of our business planning and decision-making.
Companywide, we strive to be an industry leader in improving environmental quality by reducing the use of natural resources and promoting reuse and recycling. In the second quarter of 2008 alone, Gulfstream recycled more than 250,000 pounds of hazardous waste and 750,000 pounds of non-hazardous materials for reuse. Those figures don't include the paper, aluminum cans and plastic bottles that employees deposit in company recycling bins.
Perhaps the greatest indication of our commitment to preserving the environment is the way we design our aircraft. The G650, the flagship of the Gulfstream fleet, flies faster and farther than any other business jet in its class. Yet, the G650 still offers better fuel efficiency and lower emissions than any competing business jet.
