Savannah, GA, June 5, 2000 -- Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announces that its Dallas, Texas facility has been approved as a Designated Alteration Station (DAS) by the Federal Aviation Administration, Special Certification Office in Fort Worth, Texas. This designation allows the Dallas facility to grant FAA Supplemental Type Certificate approvals for engineering designs and installations to aircraft.
The DAS approval enhances Gulfstream-Dallas's ability to provide modifications and completions for Gulfstream product lines, as well as for Challenger, Falcon, and Hawker aircraft. Dallas joins Appleton, Wis., Long Beach, Calif., and Savannah, Ga., as other Gulfstream sites granted this status.
Gulfstream is focused on providing the highest levels of quality, service and customer support for its aircraft. Marking its fourth year in customer service, the Gulfstream V is demonstrating exceptional performance in the hands of operators all over the world.
"This designation will significantly enhance Gulfstream's ability to exceed our customer's service expectations, "said Larry Flynn, Gulfstream senior vice president, aircraft services. "In addition to granting signature authority for the work, the FAA authorization gives Gulfstream better control over scheduling which will dramatically reduce turnaround times for our customer's aircraft."
David K. Neese will be responsible for the DAS in Dallas. Neese, who joined Gulfstream in June 1999, was previously employed by American Eurocopter where he was a DAS coordinator for eight years. He is an active FAA Designated Engineering Representative.
In addition to completions, the Dallas facility is a full Gulfstream Service Center staffed by over 800 employees. Gulfstream-Dallas offers Gulfstream, Challenger, Hawker and Falcon customers a full range of aircraft services. These include airframe, engine, auxiliary power unit, avionics, refurbishment and painting 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
