Gulfstream IV-SP Business Aircraft Supports Raf Benevolent Fund By Providing Air Link To Royal International Air Tattoo
Farnborough, U.K., July 21, 2000 -- A Gulfstream IV-SP large-cabin business aircraft is providing transportation from the London area for dignitaries attending the 30th Royal International Air Tattoo. Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynami (NYSE: GD), is also sponsoring the show's Flight Centre, the focal point for this gathering of military pilots, aircraft and delegations from around the world.
"Gulfstream's sponsorship of both the shuttle flights and Flight Centre provides us with the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the comfort, performance and reliability associated with owning a Gulfstream jet," said Buddy Sams, Gulfstream's vice president of government sales and marketing. "Gulfstream aircraft are the first choice for government transportation worldwide."
The Gulfstream IV-SP is the world's best selling, most reliable large-cabin business aircraft. The Gulfstream IV-SP is capable of traveling 4,220 nautical miles non-stop at speeds up to Mach 0.88 and can cruise at altitudes up to 45,000 feet, well above commercial traffic. Gulfstream IV and IV-SPs have completed nearly 1.3 million flight hours since the aircraft was introduced in 1985 and the Gulfstream IV-SP offers an impressive dispatch reliability of 99.5%. There are approximately 390 Gulfstream IV and GIV-SPs in service today.
The Gulfstream IV and IV-SP are the number-one choices among business aircraft for government and special mission requirements. Gulfstream aircraft serve in a variety of special mission roles, including electronic intelligence gathering, multi-purpose transport, aerial surveillance, medical evacuation and weather research.
A significant part of the Gulfstream IV-SP, its engines, are built here in the U.K. The Gulfstream IV-SP is powered by two Rolls-Royce Tay 611 turbofans that produce 13,850 pounds of thrust each. The quiet, highly reliable engines entered service with the Gulfstream IV and have powered the GIV and GIV-SP to 74 world and national flight records.
