GULFSTREAM AND FAA SIGN SAFETY AND CERTIFICATION AGREEMENT
"Partnership for Safety" and Certification Agreement Enhance Business Relationship for Safety and Certification Process Improvements
NBAA, New Orleans, Oct. 9, 2000 -- Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation announces the signing of a safety and process improvement pact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The agreement focuses on safety and details planning, communications and improved business practices that will standardize processes and reduce certification cost and time.
"Our goal is nothing less than to be the best aircraft manufacturer that the FAA works with," said Pres Henne, Gulfstream senior vice president for programs. "An improvement in the business relationship between Gulfstream and the FAA builds trust, reinforces accountability and augments the certification process. Improved communications, cooperation, and early issue resolution provide the ideal environment for enhancing safety."
The "Partnership for Safety Plan" and certification process are being introduced in two phases. Phase one has started at Gulfstream's Savannah production facility. Phase two, to be introduced next year, will bring in Gulfstream's other facilities and will include completions, service, maintenance and the corresponding FAA offices.
"The certification process will be mutually developed and agreed to with set timeframes and schedules," said Henne. "With the FAA's early involvement in new projects and ongoing airworthiness issues, resources can be allocated to meet project milestones, which will result in a streamlined approval process. It's a win-win relationship."
