GULFSTREAM'S LONG BEACH SERVICE CENTER AWARDED FAA'S DIAMOND CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE FAA
Recognizes Gulfstream's Commitment to Service Training
Geneva, Switzerland, April 18, 2001 - Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation's Long Beach Completions and Service Center was awarded the Federal Aviation Administration's Diamond Certificate of Excellence Award. The award is the agency's top honor for recognizing an organization's commitment to training. This is the second year in a row that Long Beach received the Diamond Award.
"Gulfstream has made a significant commitment to our training program over the past few years," said Barry Russell, general manager of the Long Beach facility. "At Long Beach, we have invested a significant amount of resources in providing training for our employees."
Individual technicians reach the Diamond Award level by receiving a minimum of 100 hours of training. Company recognition is achieved when more than 25 percent of eligible employees reach this training milestone. This year the Long Beach facility had 132 employees who participated in the Aviation Maintenance Technicians Awards program.
"It's an honor to receive this recognition from the FAA," said Russell. "It demonstrates how committed our employees are to being the most professional and highly trained in the industry."
The award was presented by the FAA's Long Beach Flight Standards District Office. The awards program was started by the Flight Standards Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Division in Washington, D.C. in 1992. The FAA recognizes eligible technicians and employers by issuing either a bronze, silver, gold, ruby or diamond award to those who receive or foster initial and recurrent training.
The technical training must be taken within a 12-month period, and recognition comes in the form of a certificate along with their distinctive tie tack/lapel pin.
Gulfstream Long Beach employees have the distinction of securing the following awards: 5 bronze, 3 silver, 27 gold, 90 ruby and 7 diamond.
