GULFSTREAM 100® FILES FOR SEVEN CITY-PAIR RECORDS
Gulfstream Seeks NAA Recognition of World-Record Flights

Savannah, Georgia - Sept. 17, 2001 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), has filed applications for seven new world-speed records with the FAI (Federation Aeronautique Internationale) for nonstop flights by its Gulfstream 100 mid-size business jet aircraft over the Labor Day weekend.

Between Sept. 1 through Sept. 3, the G100 completed the following flights:

  • Teterboro to New Orleans, 463 knots, two hours, 19 minutes
  • Miami to New Orleans, 509 knots, 1 hour, 17 minutes
  • New Orleans to Miami, 510 knots, 1 hour, 16 minutes
  • Miami to Caracas, 522 knots, 2 hours, 37 minutes
  • Caracas to New Orleans, 486 knots, 4 hours, 5 minutes
  • New Orleans to Seattle, 495 knots, 4 hours, 14 minutes
  • Seattle to New Orleans, 544 knots, 3 hours, 50 minutes

"The Gulfstream 100 has established a reputation as the performance leader in the mid-size category," said Bill Boisture, Gulfstream president and chief operating officer. "It's the only mid-size business jet aircraft that can fly from Boston to London nonstop."

Gulfstream has filed for city-pairs records in two categories, C-I.G (airplanes in the 19,842 - 26,455 pound weight class) and the unlimited weight class.

The record-breaking flights were flown by Captain Jerry Blessing, director of flight operations for the Gulfstream100 mid-size and Gulfstream 200 super mid-size business jet aircraft program, and Captain Scott Evans, chief pilot for the G100 and G200 program.

Data on each of the seven legs have been submitted to the National Aeronautic Association, the U.S. representative of the FAI, for review.

With a range of 2,950 nautical miles, the Gulfstream 100 business jet aircraft easily links Seattle with Miami, Paris with Tel Aviv or Hong Kong with Singapore. Aerodynamically superior, the G100 is one of only a handful of aircraft that can routinely cruise at .82 Mach
