GULFSTREAM LAUNCHES AIRBORNE PRODUCT SUPPORT™
Gulfstream 100 to Transport Parts and Technicians To Further Improve Product Support
Savannah, Ga., May 7, 2002 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today that it will introduce a new value-added customer service to support warrantied aircraft in instances where commercial methods of transportation are not readily available to send technical assistance or deliver urgently needed parts.
"To further improve our product support capabilities, and to deal with growing commercial transportation delays, we are making a dedicated Gulfstream 100, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, to deliver
flight-essential parts and/or technicians to warrantied customers in North America and the Caribbean," said Larry Flynn, senior vice president, aircraft services, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. "Either the Gulfstream 100 flies directly to the customer, or we fly to a major hub where connecting international commercial transportation is available to get needed parts or technicians to the customer," he continued.
Gulfstream’s commitment to providing extraordinary customer service and product support extends beyond the sale of the aircraft. For the past two years the company has been judged number one in Corporate Aircraft Product Support by the international aviation and aerospace trade publication, Professional Pilot. "We are proud that our product support team has been recognized for its efforts in the past. We intend to continue to look for all ways and means to add improvements to our customer product support programs," said Mr. Flynn.
Gulfstream conducted an intensive analysis of transient operator destinations, home base locations and materials requirements over a 12-month period before developing the program. The company then conducted a three-month trial before confirming the value and cost effectiveness of the new program. The research and analysis concluded that a Savannah-based Gulfstream 100, with its 2,950 nautical mile range and speed of Mach 0.84, is the ideal aircraft to reach most airports in North America and the Caribbean.
The Gulfstream 100, which will be painted in a distinctive livery, has been fitted out with a special interior configuration to fulfill its new role.
"Even though both our GIV and GV fleets are experiencing reliability rates in excess of 99.5 percent, we firmly believe that any customer who selects a Gulfstream business jet aircraft to meet his or her requirements deserves the very best after sales service we can provide," said Mr. Flynn.
