Asian Aerospace, Singapore, February 26, 2002 - Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), formally introduced the two latest additions to its fleet at Asian Aerospace 2002.
Gulfstream now offers an entire fleet of business jet aircraft that meet a broader variety of mission requirements ranging from 2,950 to 6,750 nautical miles.
"The Gulfstream name is synonymous with high-performance business jet aircraft that offer the best combination of cabin size, performance and reliability in their class," said Joe Walker, Senior Vice President, Gulfstream Aerospace. "The new Gulfstreams continue that legacy and expand it to the mid-range category. They will be supported by our award-winning worldwide customer and product support," he added.
The Gulfstream 100 offers the unprecedented combination of speed and range and is the best performing mid-size business jet aircraft built. It has a 2,950nm range and performs at speeds up to Mach .84 with a cruising altitude up to 45,000 feet. The Gulfstream 200 is the pioneer of the super mid-size category and possesses excellent balance performance for high speed and long range travel. It has a proven intercontinental range of 3,600 miles at speeds of up to Mach.82 and can cruise at altitudes up to 45,000 feet.
From a comfort perspective, the Gulfstream 200 has the largest cabin volume in the super mid-size business jet category. The Gulfstream 200 won more than 70 firm orders and 93 options from two carriers within only six months of joining the Gulfstream fleet.
The Gulfstream 200 flies nonstop from Tokyo to Singapore or Berlin to Delhi and is powered by twin Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306A engines, each rated at 6,040 pounds.
The mid-size Gulfstream 100 is ideally suited for long and short distances, easily linking Singapore to Beijing at high speed. It is powered by twin Honeywell 731-40R engines, each rated at 4,250 pounds.
"Gulfstream is delighted to formally introduce the Gulfstream 100 and the Gulfstream 200 at Asian Aerospace 2002," said Walker.
The Gulfstream 100 and Gulfstream 200 were added to the fleet when General Dynamics completed the acquisition of Galaxy Aerospace Company, LP, in June 2001. Galaxy's management and operations were integrated with those of Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.
The next aircraft to join the fleet will be the Gulfstream V-SP, which is scheduled to enter service in 2003. It has a range of 6,750 nautical miles, cruises at Mach 0.85 and has a maximum cruise altitude of 51,000 feet.
