GULFSTREAM AND METROJET INTRODUCE GULFSTREAM G200 TO HONG KONG
ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 11, 2002 – Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation and Hong Kong-based MetroJet have agreed to introduce a large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G200 into charter service in Asia. The Gulfstream G200 will be based at the Hong Kong Business Aircraft Center at Chep Lap Kok International Airport, where it will be operated and maintained by MetroJet.
The large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G200, which can accommodate up to 10 passengers, offers outstanding performance with its excellent climb, high cruising altitude, high speed, and range of 3,600 nautical miles. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW306A engines, the G200 can operate at speeds up to Mach .85 and at altitudes up to 45,000 feet. The spacious cabin features low ambient sound levels, plenty of natural light from generous-sized windows and 100 percent fresh air and serves as a productive workspace for business travelers.
"This remarkable business jet aircraft, with its impressive performance and large-cabin comfort features, will allow charter customers and prospects to experience how effectively and efficiently the Gulfstream G200 can serve the requirements of this region," said Roger Sperry, division vice president, international sales, South America and Far East Asia.
In mid-2001, Gulfstream’s parent company, General Dynamics, acquired Galaxy Aerospace and assigned management of the company to Gulfstream. The Galaxy aircraft was renamed the Gulfstream 200 and, in the intervening 15 months since the G200 joined the Gulfstream family, exceptions at delivery have dropped by some 90 percent, with the most recent aircraft delivered experiencing only 10 exceptions. Equally importantly, completions cycle time has decreased by 68 percent from 14 months to 4 1/2 months, while an aggressive weight reduction program has already exceeded 50 percent of a targeted 650 pounds.
