GULFSTREAM PRESENCE AT EBACE2003, STRONGEST EVER
Gulfstream Sets Record Number of Demonstration Flights and Static Display Events
SAVANNAH, Ga., May 30, 2003 - At the recent European Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (EBACE2003), held May 7 - 9 in Geneva, Switzerland, Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), conducted 20 demonstration flights for 12 customers and prospects and another demonstration flight for members of the business aviation trade press.
In total, Gulfstream aircraft logged 166.5 flight hours, completed 61 landings and covered approximately 72,000 miles. Destinations included England, Ireland, Germany, Greece, Poland and the United Arab Emirates. All aircraft either completed their trips on time or ahead of schedule as a result of the industry-leading dispatch reliability of the Gulfstream fleet of business jet aircraft. This flying program was the busiest on record for Gulfstream's flight operations department when compared with any previous air show or industry marketing event.
"EBACE is an important air show for Gulfstream. This year it attracted a record-breaking almost 6,000 registered attendees," said Bryan Moss, president, Gulfstream. "This international venue provides ready access to European and Middle Eastern customers and provides these customers the clear vantage of experiencing our business jets alongside our competitors. Our entire Gulfstream team did an outstanding job displaying and demonstrating the incomparable quality of our aircraft."
According to Randy Gaston, vice president, flight operations, Gulfstream, "We accomplished a number of Gulfstream firsts, including the first international flight and static display of the Gulfstream Enhanced Vision System™ and the first flights of the G550™ and G400™ outside the United States. We introduced the business aviation community to our new state-of-the-art PlaneView® cockpit, which is standard equipment in the G550 and G500™. It was received with tremendous interest and enthusiasm. We also introduced European and Middle Eastern customers to the G200™ by flying the aircraft to Kuwait for the first time."
Four Gulfstream aircraft were used for daily static displays - two large-cabin, ultra-long-range aircraft - a G550 and a GV®; a large-cabin, long-range G400; and a large-cabin, mid-range G200. Two aircraft - another G200 and a large-cabin, long-range GIV® - were used for demonstration and press flights.
