GULFSTREAM INITIATES NEW SUBSCRIPTION PARTS PROGRAM FOR G100 AND ASTRA AIRCRAFT OWNERS "Budget Plus™"
Allows G100 and Astra Operators To Better Manage Maintenance Costs
SAVANNAH, Ga., April 7, 2005 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), today introduced Budget Plus™, a spare parts subscription service that will enable G100 and Astra owners and operators in North, Central and South America and Europe to better manage their annual maintenance.
Commencing today as a 12-month pilot program in the United States and Latin America, Budget Plus is a cost-assured parts provision program for G100 and Astra operators. For a flat hourly fee, Gulfstream provides exchange and consumable parts to G100 and Astra operators on an as-needed basis. All parts are included with the exception of engine, APU (auxiliary power unit) and avionics parts, which are covered under separate maintenance programs offered by the engine and avionics manufacturers. Additionally, G100 and Astra operators who subscribe to the program automatically receive a 10-percent discount on the cost of labor when the work is performed at a Gulfstream or General Dynamics Aviation Services service center.
"Budget Plus was developed to address the specific needs of our G100 and Astra operators," said Larry Flynn, president, product support, Gulfstream. "While the G100/Astra fleet is experiencing a dispatch reliability rate in excess of 99.6 percent, subscribers of the program will have even more control of their maintenance budget on a month-by-month basis."
Ten G100/Astra operators, including six Latin American operators, are participating in the pilot program. Analysis of this groups' one-year maintenance history helped determine their subscription fees, which take into account the age and usage of the aircraft and therefore, vary among the G100 and Astra operators.
"As Budget Plus participants, G100 and Astra operators will welcome the simplicity this program will bring to the service personnel entrusted to maintain their aircraft," Flynn added. "They can expect their parts will always be available, that they will be shipped promptly and consistently will be of the highest quality and reliability. Their maintenance teams will spend less time on the phone or handling paperwork and more time with the aircraft."
