GULFSTREAM G550 LINKS SAO PAULO TO MOSCOW WITH ITS 18TH CITY-PAIR SPEED RECORD
Ultra-Long-Range G550 Business Jet Completes Flight In Just Over 14 Hours

SAVANNAH, Ga., Oct. 17, 2005 – A Gulfstream G550 business jet has established a new city-pair speed record between São Paulo, Brazil, and Moscow, Russia, marking the 18 th G550 city-pair speed record since the ultra-long-range business jet first entered service two years ago. Official recognition of this city-pair speed record by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) is pending.

The privately owned G550 took off from São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport at 6:52 p.m. local time on Oct. 2, 2005 . It flew 6,511 nautical miles at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.80, landing 14 hours, 12 minutes later at 4:04 p.m. local time at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow . The G550 had fuel reserves for another 1½ hours of flight.

Chief Pilot Francisco Lyra served as pilot-in-command and Captain Ivo Martins served as second-in-command. Also onboard were Copilot Renato Mattos, who served as first officer, and one passenger.

The same crew and airplane have flown numerous transcontinental trips, including an around-the-world journey that began in S ã o Paulo on Oct. 17, 2004 and ended seven days later back in S ã o Paulo . During this trip, the G550 flew more than 22,000 nautical miles, touched four continents and flew over Antarctica within 100 miles of the South Pole.
