GULFSTREAM G550 BUSINESS JET SETS CITY-PAIR SPEED RECORD BETWEEN DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, AND MANCHESTER, ENGLAND
SAVANNAH , Ga. , May 31, 2006 – A large-cabin, ultra-long-range Gulfstream G550 business jet recently established a new city-pair speed record between Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates and Manchester Airport in England. The aircraft flew 3191 nautical miles in 7 hours and 1 minute, at an average speed of Mach 0.85 and with an average headwind of 16 knots. It landed with 9,000 pounds of fuel remaining.
Piloting the G550 was Hank Gibson, senior international captain, while Ray Wellington, senior international captain, served as copilot. In addition to flight attendant Donna Inglis, 6 passengers were onboard the flight.
Gulfstream has submitted an application to the National Aeronautic Association to confirm the new city-pair record.
