GULFSTREAM LARGE-CABIN BUSINESS JETS DEEMED CAPABLE OF FLYING EXTENDED RANGES BY
EUROPEAN AVIATION SAFETY AGENCY (EASA)
SAVANNAH, Ga., August 27, 2007 – The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recently determined that all four Gulfstream large-cabin aircraft models – the G550, G500, G450 and G350 – are capable of flying routes that are up to 180 minutes from an emergency or diversion airport. This recent engineering approval, which adds 60 additional minutes, translates into an additional 380 nautical miles that an aircraft can fly from the nearest airport. It also affirms that these aircraft are capable of flying Extended Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards (ETOPS) routes.
“This EASA finding validates the reliability of our aircraft,” said Pres Henne, senior vice president, programs, engineering and test, Gulfstream. “Moreover, it leads the way for Gulfstream charter operators registered in European Union countries to fly more direct intercontinental routes, thereby reducing travel time and fuel consumption.”
EASA issued an engineering approval July 19, 2007 , that affirms the four properly equipped Gulfstream aircraft models are capable of flying up to 180-minute ETOPS routes. Operators of European-registered Gulfstream aircraft operating under JAR Ops 1 can provide this engineering approval to their country’s civil aviation authority, after which it is incumbent upon the operator to demonstrate to his local airworthiness authority compliance for operational capability, maintenance operations and crew training programs.
