NEW GULFSTREAM G200 AUXILIARY POWER UNIT MUFFLER REDUCES SURGE-VALVE NOISE BY MORE THAN HALF

FAA Issues Supplemental Type Certificate for Device Installation

SAVANNAH, Ga., April 17, 2008
– Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), recently received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to install an optional muffler on the Gulfstream G200 Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). The new muffler has been designed to reduce noise emanating from the surge-control valve by 10-12 decibels, a reduction of more than half the current level.

Gulfstream Service Engineering developed, flight-tested and certified the muffler with input from the Gulfstream G200 Customer Advisory Board. M-Dot Aerospace of Phoenix completed the muffler design and manufactures the devices for Gulfstream.

The APU provides the electricity necessary to start the G200’s two engines and operate its Environmental Control System (ECS), which includes air conditioning.

“This is another example of Gulfstream taking a proven product and making it even better,” said Dan Nale, vice president, Mid-Cabin Programs, Gulfstream.

G200 operators can purchase the STC and muffler and have the muffler installed at any Gulfstream or General Dynamics Aviation Services authorized service center. The muffler upgrade is available as a completion option for new G200 aircraft.

The large-cabin, mid-range G200 joined the Gulfstream fleet in 2001. To date, there are around 180 in service. The G200 has a 12-month dispatch reliability rate of 99.77 percent. As of March 31, 2008, the aircraft fleet has flown close to 300,000 hours and completed more than 182,000 landings.
