GULFSTREAM TO OFFER AUTOMATIC THROTTLE ON GULFSTREAM G150
Large-Cabin Flight-Deck Automation Available To Mid-Cabin Market In 2009
SAVANNAH, Ga., October 5, 2008 – Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), will offer Safe Flight Instrument Corp.’s Enhanced AutoPower® Automatic Throttle System (ATS) on its wide-cabin, high-speed Gulfstream G150.
Gulfstream anticipates receiving a Supplemental Type Certificate in the first quarter of 2009 to install ATS on G150 aircraft. The system will be available for installation on new aircraft during final-phase manufacturing and as a retrofit at Gulfstream Service centers for already fielded aircraft. This offering brings large-cabin flight-deck automation to the mid-cabin market.
The Safe Flight ATS integrated on the G150 provides continuous thrust management during take-off, climb, cruise, descent, approach, landing and go-around flight modes. Components for ATS include a dedicated computer, two mode status displays and a modified throttle quadrant that includes the drive and clutch mechanism. Fully integrated with existing avionics displays and controls, the auto-throttle system features precise, smooth and synchronized speed control regardless of maneuver, thereby permitting the pilots to concentrate on other necessary tasks.
