SAVANNAH, Ga., November 16, 2008 –Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), has launched the Outstanding Flight Awards Program to recognize operators who demonstrate outstanding performance in Gulfstream aircraft. The awards commence with the 2008 operating year, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first Gulfstream GI flight on Aug. 14, 1958.
The annual awards will spotlight flights involving superior airmanship performed in customer Gulfstream aircraft and highlight significant real-world business and special-mission aviation operations by Gulfstream operators.
Senior Gulfstream personnel will select those to be awarded recognition from applications submitted by Gulfstream operators. The awards will be given in two categories: commercial and government/military. Awardees and runners-up will receive take-home trophies and certificates. The annual winners will also have their names engraved on a permanent trophy.
Awards for the 2008 operating year will be issued during the 2009 Gulfstream Operators’ Conference in Savannah.
"This is an excellent opportunity for us to highlight not only the superior
performance and safety of our operators, but also the outstanding performance
and significant safety features of Gulfstream aircraft," said Joe Lombardo,
president, Gulfstream.
