SAVANNAH, Ga., March 21, 2011 - Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. recently promoted David Nield to director, Final Phase Operations. He reports to Austin Shontz, vice president, Final Phase Operations/Engineering and Materials.
In his new role, Nield oversees all the Final Phase back-shop operations in Savannah, including the fabricating of the seats, cabinetry and upholstery for the Gulfstream G450, G550 and G650 aircraft.
Nield joined Gulfstream in 2007 as a production design team lead working in Advanced Manufacturing Programs and Technology. Prior to that, he spent 13 years with Raytheon Aircraft Company, now Hawker Beechcraft Corp. Nield joined Raytheon from Airbus in 1994 as a finance manager and went on to become manager and then director of Hawker final assembly operations. He began his aerospace career in 1975 with Hawker Siddeley/British Aerospace as an aeronautical engineering apprentice.
Nield earned his certificate in aeronautical engineering from Kelsterton College in the United Kingdom. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt.
