The all-new Gulfstream Cabin Management System helps you create the cabin that's just right for you and your mood. Simple navigation gives you control of everything from the environment to the entertainment. Every option – temperature, monitors, lights – is right there at your fingertips.
The Gulfstream-designed system uses a platform many people already know, the iPod touch®, with plans in place for other personal handheld devices. Download the application from the Apple® store and the system does the rest. Just step on board, and the aircraft will automatically sync the device and provide the correct floor plan.
Using the system's intuitive screens and menus, you can easily design an environment that reflects your requirements for that particular flight. You can dim the lights and watch a movie, all with the simple flick of a finger. Even better, each of your passengers can do the same, since the Passenger Control Units can be synched to a particular seat on your aircraft's floor plan.
The Gulfstream Cabin Management System was designed using Gulfstream's Cabin Essential™ philosophy, so functionality isn't affected by a single point of failure. No matter what, your system will continue working.
Gulfstream Cabin Management. Your wish is your command.
To ensure enhanced productivity and comfort in the Gulfstream G280, we took the cutting-edge technology we developed for our ultra-long-range Gulfstream G650 business jet and applied it to the large-cabin, mid-range G280. These evolutionary changes mean the two aircraft – although on opposite ends of the size spectrum – share many of the same attributes, including an extraordinary cabin environment, an advanced environmental control system and industry-leading cabin sound levels.
The G280 features a bright and airy cabin with 19 large windows and a lower cabin altitude than its predecessor, the Gulfstream G200. At FL450, the cabin altitude is just 7,000 feet (2,130 m). At FL410, the altitude is only 6,000 feet (1,828 m). This results in increased productivity, efficiency and general well-being.
The G280 cabin also has an advanced environmental control system with 100 percent fresh air, quieter air distribution and improved air-flow control. This distribution system, as well as quieter engines, contributes to the G280's industry-leading cabin sound levels – silence in which to think, work and communicate as if you were on the ground.
The G280 has the healthiest cabin in its class, as all of these many elements combine to reduce passenger fatigue, increase mental alertness and enhance productivity.
At Gulfstream, your business needs are met with all the comforts of home. Providing passengers with more working-area than any other super mid-size cabin on the market, the G280 features the longest seating area in its class at 25ft 10in, the finished G280 cabin is nearly 7 feet wide (1.0m) and more than 6 feet tall (1.85m).
This vast space provides for redesigned seats with the greatest seat pitch in the class and a revamped divan for unparalleled comfort.
The G280 seats feature 25" overall width and 21" between the arms, creating a nearly 2-foot aisle. Gulfstream opulent seating allows passengers to experience an environment that is highly conducive to productivity. Including:
The divan measures 6 feet, 8 inches long and features a four-position base cushion that locks every inch for the first 3 inches for improved seat comfort. The divan extends to a full-berthing position, with no filler cushions required.
The Divan End Cabinets include:
Modern amenities continue in the ergonomically designed, elegantly finished and exceptionally equipped galley, which houses a standard microwave, a coffee maker, a sink and gasper-cooled storage. The galley also includes a long, wide counter with a pullout work surface for food preparation.
Additional features of the galley include:
The lavatory is one of the G280's highlights. Featuring two large windows, which provide ample natural light, the G280's lavatory includes several modern amenities: a vessel sink, a lighted vanity mirror and a full-length closet to name a few. Overall the lavatory is now larger and more spacious than that on the G200.
The hallmark of the G280 lavatory is a vacuum toilet – as it's the only aircraft in its class with a vacuum toilet and overboard venting system. The system is activated automatically when the padded lid is raised (a vent switch is also provided).
Other G280 lavatory features include a towel bar, solid surface countertop, LED accent lighting, automatic drain valve and storage.
It's no surprise that the fastest mid-size airplane with the largest cabin and the longest range would also have the largest baggage compartment in its class.
Thanks to innovative thinking, the baggage compartment is now fully accessible in-flight. That means you can stow and access more baggage and equipment.
What's more, the G280 outpaces its competition in terms of usable baggage volume. The G280 boasts 120 cubic feet (3.4 cubic m) of in-flight accessible baggage volume - that's more than the gross baggage volume of the competition. The aircraft also features 34 cubic feet (0.96 cubic m) of storage in the forward cabin closet, lavatory closet and divan end cabinets.
The Gulfstream Cabin Essential design philosophy is a natural extension of the fundamental aviation principal of ensuring the continued operation of essential aircraft systems through redundancy. Selected major cabin systems on the G280 – the communication and lighting systems, for example, and the power and cabin control and entertainment systems – are designed with the same level of redundancy found on the G280's crucial aircraft systems. That means no single point of failure will cause the complete loss of water, power, cabin lighting, voice communication, or the entertainment systems in flight.
The G280 provides you with the same high-caliber, high-speed connectivity they you enjoy in your office environment. The aircraft comes standard with Gulfstream's Audio/Video Distribution System (AVDS), which supplies high-definition (HD) video content to the cabin.
Using a unique fiber optic cabling system, the AVDS provides HD video content with no data compression or signal latency. The G280 comes standard with a dual Blu-ray/DVD/CD player with USB ports along with a 19-inch (48 cm) HD liquid crystal display (LCD) forward bulkhead monitor. Operators can also select dual 128-gigabyte media servers and 12.1-inch (31 cm) HD or 9-inch (23 cm) HD-compatible LCD personal monitors that plug into the side ledge.
The Gulfstream Cabin Management System (GCMS) provides digital control of cabin systems through touch screens, capacitive touch switches and a passenger control unit located at the principal's seat. Using an iPod touch® or another personal handheld device, the principal passenger will be able to control the lighting, temperature, entertainment equipment, Gulfstream's new CabinView™ Passenger Flight Information System and attendant call.
This Passenger Control Unit (PCU) can be stored in the covered charging station located in the ledge adjacent to the principal seat. That ledge also hides a charging station for the Iridium handset, a headphone port and controls, a media input panel with iPod® dock, an electric power outlet and miscellaneous storage.
