Thanks to its high-speed wing and Honeywell HTF7250G engines, the G280™ can fly 200 nautical miles farther than Gulfstream promised when it introduced the aircraft in 2008. That means the G280 can carry four passengers 3,600 nm (6,667 km) at Mach 0.80, farther and faster than any other aircraft in its class. With its additional range capabilities, the G280 can easily link London to New York non-stop or New York to Tokyo with one stop.
Another improvement to the aircraft's final performance specifications is a 210 foot shorter takeoff distance. At maximum takeoff weight, the G280 can take off in 4,750 feet (1,448 m) for sea level, standard day conditions. This allows the G280, fully loaded, to depart from short airstrips such as Carlsbad near San Diego, or Chicago Executive Airport (Palwaukee).
